What is a nebulizer, anyway?

These machines that were small enough to fit in your hand operated on the same principles as the machines that generate air pressure to fill your tires. The problem was, they were almost as loud, and they still created large drops of wasted medication.

Modern nebulizers use ultrasound.

The ultrasonic nebulizer makes ultra-fine droplets of essential oil that get deep into your lungs and nasal passages where they can do the most good. And they make their ultra-fine mist without making a loud sound, but by using the power of sound.

The human ear simply cannot hear the sound used in ultrasound. Vibrating 1 to 2 million times a second, an ultrasonic nebulizer jostles essential oil molecule by molecule just enough to make a mist. None of the essential oil is wasted. In fact, if you have to buy essential oil once a month to operate a hand-pumped nebulizer, you might only have to buy essential oil once a year if you buy an ultrasound nebulizer.

Newer models don't have to be plugged in.

Another advantage of ultrasound nebulizers is you don't have to keep them plugged in. They are portable so you can take all the advantages of aromatherapy with you wherever you go. And while compressor-driven nebulizers create a spray of medication, ultrasound nebulizers create a fine mist.

Treatments in five minutes or less.

You can breathe in all the benefits of aromatherapy or medication with ultrasound nebulizers in five minutes or less (although it can take a little longer if you have let the battery run down). You don't have to go through any complicated cleaning process. Just don't put the cup in the dishwasher. Wash it by hand. You can keep your machine clean with a simple wipe with a clean cloth.

Ultrasound nebulizers are the single best way to take advantage of all the benefits of aromatherapy science.
